Why FIFA Won't Allow Mikel Obi To Leave Chelsea
There seems to be stumbling blocks against the impending transfer of Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi from London club Chelsea as revelations have emerged that the out -of- favour midfielder cannot leave Chelsea on loan due to Federation Of International Football Association FIFA rules and regulations.
FIFA regulations state that a player in the final six months of his deal can’t leave on loan to another team, and Mikel Obi has just six months of his contact at Chelsea to spare.
The Super Eagles captain has not featured for the first team set up at Chelsea since the arrival of Italian manager Antonio Conte in the summer of 2016 and it is understood that Mikel is nearing an exit at Chelsea.
If Mikel were to leave Chelsea it would certainly be a permanent move and not a loan move. And several reports have linked the former Lyn Oslo midfielder to clubs such as Inter-Milan, Marseille and three teams in China namely Shanghai SIPG, Hebei Fortune and Shanghai Shenhua.
