Sunderland youth prodigy Joel Asoro has clarified that he is not eligible to wear the green and white jersey of Nigerian contrary to widespread reports in the media.
According to reports the Swedish youth international stated that he qualifies for Sweden and Ghana at senior level and not Nigeria as claimed by reports.
It would be recalled that the young Asoro came to the purview of Nigerians when Sunderland manager David Moyes handed him his senior debut against Middlesbrough this season at the age of 17, making him the club’s youngest ever debutant in the Premier League.
